The publicist to Fuji star, Abass Akande Obsere who was accused of
raping a 29-year old business woman, Miss Olanike Olaiya, Deola
Adeoti has described the allegation as a grand conspiracy to tarnish
the image of his client.
Reacting to the arrest cum
release of his client by the State Criminal Investigation
Department, Yaba, Lagos, during the week, Adeoti said, given
Obesere's status as a music star with a lot of female fans, he
couldn't have committed the crime, he was accused of.
According to him, “Obesere came in
contact with this girl, Miss Olanike Olaiya, on February 5, 2014 in
Ibadan through his old friend, Bola Okoro for an ongoing business
project tagged ‘Obesere Rice.’ She is supposed to be one of
beneficiaries of the project as a marketer.”
Continuing, he said, “During their
business discussion, she came to Obesere’s Lagos residence in Okota
on February 10, 2014. Obviously, an intimate relationship between two
consenting adult had developed between them. Awed by Obesere’s
famous celebrity image, she was all over him, entering every nook and
crannies of his house like the woman of the house, and even offering
to do the cooking, and making several advances for a romantic
relationship with the Fuji star. One thing led to the other, and she
offered to stay the night in the cozy environment.”
“After having a swell time, she
departed the following day with smiles. But to Obesere’s utter
surprise, he got an invitation from the Isolo Police Division that a
girl who departed happily from his house has reported him for rape
four days after her departure. To him, it was a laughable mater.”
'Obesere’s rape scandal is a grand
conspiracy.”
Obesere was arrested last Wednesday but
was later released on bail. On Monday, he was arrested again after a
medical examination revealed Olanike was raped. The Fuji star claims
they are lovers and had sexual intercourse when she visited him.
Meanwhile, narrating her ordeal,
Olanike insisted that Obsere raped me and afterwards inserted a ring
he wore into my private part and I started bleeding. “He hurriedly
left me in the room saying he had an appointment to fulfil.I could
not bear the trauma and the bleeding and I reported the matter to the
police,” Olanike said.
