Veteran film maker and founder of the
prestigious Abuja International Film Festival,AIFF, Fidelis Duker,
has added another feather to his cap as he wraps up plans for the
smooth take off of his radio station known as FED FM, in Calabar, the
Cross River State capital.
The radio station is scheduled to
commence broadcasting towards the end of next month.
Disclosing this cheery news to HVP,
Duker described the 24 hours radio station as “a dream patiently
nurtured and harnessed since 2007.” He said the radio station will
be loaded with music, talks, and entertainment.
According to him, "I just feel I
should delve into broadcasting industry which I have been part of all
this while. For the past 17 years, I have ran thrillers on TV and
radio station. I have about four soap operas running on TV and radio
stations. I also felt there is need for me to have a radio platform
to encourage the young ones. This is because you get to a point in
your career and you begin to consider the idea of diversifying.
That's basically why I applied for the license in 2007 but luckily
for us, we got it last year. All the equipment are on ground and we
are only waiting to finalise with the National Broadcasting
Commission.”
